I know some people are afraid of them, but why do they not see that every major city has the toughest gun laws, and also has the highest crime rate. But towns that encourage gun ownership have reduced thier crime rate by as much as 400%.
(example Kennesaw, Georgia)

Some may have misunderstood. I am a gun owner, it has saved my life twice.
My concern is the laws pertaining to guns are being effected by people who do not understand the way they can help.

This is so true!!!!!!!!!!!! Libs do not realize that a criminal does not care about the law, they will own a gun regardless of what the law dictates, you know why, because they are criminals! Duhhhhhhhhh. Criminals love the fact that they can safely rob or kill with without the fear of being shot.
Guns are not the problem, almost anything can be used an weapon, in order to control gun violence there needs to be stiffer punishements to gun offenders that break the law with violent crimes.
Nancy Pelosi is a big anti gun activist, did you know she is one of the few people in California registered to carry a concealed weapon. Sounds like a elitist attitude to me.
Great question, just hope some libs see it and understand!

I imagine the crime rate was out of control in Kennesaw, Ga.-what with all the national headlines about their shocking crime statistics. I bet that having an armed public really cut down on those hooligans who "cruised" the town square every Saturday night!
Sarcasm aside, I have owned firearms for 33 years and ( I know the gun-control freaks may not believe this), I have NEVER shot another human being. Criminals with guns rob and kill people and taking the guns away from the general public will simply ensure that only the criminals are armed.
To be fair, outlawing guns would reduce the number of gun-related accidents that occur, but that is all. I'd rather keep my freedoms and take my chances.

lolol

I was a firearms rep in Roswell, not far from Kennesaw when the city council passed that particular ordinance.

I believe that the ordinance was a clear message that law enforcement in Kennesaw would not be pursuing, with enthusiasm, any shootings by a homeowner who found a stranger in or own their property.

I believe this policy did a lot for the drop in the Kennesaw crime rate, such as it was. We, in the business, had a good laugh at both the policy and its apparent effect. Crime did drop immediately and stayed down.

Politicians, not the most learned of our society, will never succeed in controlling human behavior by passing rules and laws. The problem is, they will probably never figure that out.

Agreed....I was raised around guns, my mom was raised around guns, my dad was raised around them, my husband was, and now i will teach my son the responsibility of a gun...well...when he is a bit older! People just need to place blame somewhere and the gun is the easiet thing...but i hear of a lot of stabings and i dont see people crying out that all the pocket knives and butcher knives need to be destroyed....I was raised w/ the saying "guns dont kill people, people kill people" the gun never made the decision to kill, the person playing w/ the gun or misusing the gun pulled the trigger! I, too, have heard the statistics about crime going down put most people that hate guns wont believe them......

Heck, here in Missouri they have just passed a new law saying that owners only need to fill out the gun form when buying the gun and no longer have to go to the sherriffs office and sign papers....I heard on the radio since that law passed (went to effect like a day ago) guns were being bought and people were buying more than one gun, and guns that had been on layaway were being fully purchased....funny how eliminating a middle man (they said it was the same form, just you had to basically fill it out 2x) makes the sales jump....lol....

All of the history of mankind has recorded the weak as being dominated by the stronger. Guns, in the hands of responsible citizens, (irregardless of the country) have provided protection against outside intruders, inside their borders, and sends the message to their politicians, don't mess with the citizenary !!!
Our politicians know this, and that is why those politicians wanting gun control / citizen disarming are the same politicians supporting the socialist way of government for the USA !!!

Guns don't kill people do

The United States has by far the "highest rate" of gun deaths -- murders, suicides and accidents -- among the world's 36 richest nations, a government study found.
The U.S. rate for gun deaths in 1994 was 14.24 per 100,000 people. Japan had the lowest rate, at .05 per 100,000.
The study, done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is the first comprehensive international look at gun-related deaths. It was published Thursday in the International Journal of Epidemiology.

What about Switzerland? Their men are all required to carry a gun, and they have one of the lowest crime rates as well. Responsibility is key. In a small area, there are usually alot of hunters, meaning they probably had to take a hunter safety course. When you are taught to respect a gun, it makes for a safer user. People in cities use them only for protection, but some use them just to kill. I'm from a small area in VA and we have a majority of hunters, and a low crime rate as well.

The guns are not the problem.
The ones that should not have them, can get them without a background check or going to the practice field.
The guns never was the problem, until in the hands of the wrong person.

I'm not totally convinced that your "facts" are factual.
Obviously gun control laws are ineffective because those who have guns to commit crimes don't subscribe to law in any shape or form.
I wonder how many people have the very weapons they keep for protection used against them.

I don't think it really has to do with laws. If someone really wants a gun, they will get one regardless of laws.

The problem is that bad people tend to migrate towards larger cities, not smaller ones. I think that is where your answer lies.

It isn't about guns, it's the type of people that different cities attract.
