Why is it that republican and religious and secular conservatives continue make family values an election issue. The issue of family values and morality was ONE of the hallmark reasons for the Republican take-over of congress and it was also used as a theme during Bush’s first run for office.

There are many, many, many more. I know that I am going to be accused of being repub-coserv-basher. I am not, I know the democrats have just as many scandals if not more. However, I think that the whole PLATFORM OF CONSERVATIVE FAMILY VALUES IS A DISINGENIOUS strategy to rally votes and to swing elections. THIS LIST DEMONSTRATES THE FACT THAT NO ONE PRACTICES WHAT THEY PREACH!!!
I also believe that we are all human and everyone makes mistakes, but it is VERY HYPOCRITICAL to impose ideas that these “cultural-icons” don’t keep!
(((What are your thoughts???)))))))

Now whats funny on a lot of these is that most of these so called things get brought out at weird times... for instance... Arnold Schwarzenegger... Isn't it amazing that something that happened back in the 80's and while he was a movie star never got brought up until he ran for office? Now I ask on something like this.... if it had been "rape" as the papers put when it first came out, why all of the sudden when he runs for office. IF it did happen, why not go after him during the days of him filming movies??? Why, because its makes him look bad. A lot of what goes on, and BTW, its not just republicans either.... is what we call mud slinging.

I am of the mind set that people are people. The type of people that run for public office generally are egomaniacs that are prone to this type of promiscuous behavior. I lived in DC for a number of years and worked extensively with political figures...most, not all, are hell bent on self indulgence. I think that the family values of Americans has declined because of a lack of family involvement. Families in my eyes just don't stick together anymore. I have friends from Africa, Guatemala, and other countries where the family ties run so deep that they are too busy to think about outside ventures. There is nothing to tie us together the way there used to be. It runs deeper than just the political figures, they are just public figures as we see them. Look at movie stars, same thing.

Democrats have corrupted Family Values, too... Clinton, Kennedy...are the first 2 that come to mind =(... I know there are others...but, in general, many politicians as well as famous people and/or religious leaders have corrupted family values... Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Baker, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman (saying family is important to them yet they divorce with kids)... we can't just blame the repubs...it's the dems, hollywood, society, etc...too! The country, states, cities and courts should have stricter laws about family, marraige, and divorce.

I think the media holds Republicans to higher moral standards than they do Democrats simply because the Republican party boasts about its family values. It seems as though ALL politicians are corrupt and have few morals, but I don't think the media puts as much emphasis on the blunders of democrats.

What are you trying to say?? That Democrats are the only ones who have good family values? That Democrats never cheat on thier spouses? Geez ! There are no gay democrats either?? My goodness, if we go by what you've stated, we should all be democrats and no one would have any moral issues! What a wonderful world that would be then, huh?

no, repubs haven't corrupted family values. i'm a democrat, but the actions of the repubs are similar to those of democrats, it's just more ridiculous because they are on such a soapbox about righteousness and honesty. but, really, you've seen jerry springer, oprah, and maury povich. none of those people are repub candidates and their family values are jacked up. repubs are only doing the same stupid things a lot of other americans are doing. it's just that when they do it, it is so hypocritical that it's hard to take any of them seriously.

The louder a person yells
The more a person fights
The more they condemn others for not seeing things the way they see them
The more closed minded a person is to different ideas and beliefs

The more likely the person is hiding the thing they are fighting against.

My thoughts are the same as they have been since I started voting at age 18 in 1971. Americans are lemmings and too lazy to actually think for themselves. The people listed above get away with what they want to because its easier to listen to lip service than it is to actually face reality. If you really want to hear alot of baloney, listen to a Christian radio channel for a couple of days. Scary.

Give it up. Politicians on both sides of the aisle are all the same. They have figured out a way to divide and conquer us. As long as you keep up this way of thinking, you are letting them win.

It's fair to say that actions speak louder than words, and there are a lot of hypocrites with no integrity whatsoever, and politics has more than its fair share of them.
