I would like to take the kids to the beach but my husband doesn't want to drive too far. Does anyone know of a beach that is not too far and worth driving to?

I have lived here for 40 years. Cocoa beach is the closest to the Disney resort area. It is about 70 miles, a little over an hours drive on the Beach Line (SR 528) which will take you right to the beach. There will be $3.75 toll each way.

There are several parks and parking areas for beach access in Cocoa: Jetty Park, Shepard Park, Lori Wilson Park - ans several others. There is a small fee to park at most of them or parking meters

Daytona beach is about 80 miles, but you will have to negotiate congested city streets to get to the beach after leaving i-4 so I would allow 90 minutes. But there are no tolls.
If the tide is not too high, you can drive on Daytona Beach

Cape Canaveral is the closest. It's due east on the Beachline Expwy (Rt. 528). It's just a mile north of Cocoa Beach. They're about 40 minutes away. Try Sheppard Park which is behind Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach

Daytona Beach is just over an hour if you hit the traffic just right. It northeast of Orlando on I-4.

if you're staying out by disney its gonna late longer than that.. it will probably take u 1 hour to get to daytona beach.. cuz once u get of i-4 you have to go thru all the traffic and lights n stuff. Same for cocoa.. i dont know whats at cocoa beach other than the space center is nearby and they are open all year around. i would go to daytona beach

Either Daytona or Cocoa Beach. I think they may about the same distance. I know from the Orlando airport, Cocoa is maybe 20 minutes away and from Lake Mary, Daytona is about a half hour

Go Cocoa. Daytona will take you up through Orlando traffic. You'll be at Cocoa before you get out of Orlando if you try for Daytona at the wrong time.

I'd recommend making a day of it and going down to Sanibel Island. Lot's of shells and Ding Darling wildlife reserve, great restaurants...
