This is a zoning issue. The rules against farm animals is established for the same reason that commercial and industrial interests are not allowed to build anywhere they want. Zoning seeks to establish like occupancies together. No one wants a feed lot next door nor a 24 hour quick shop or a noisy factory.

because they poop a lot, and it smells bad. The reason is because most farm animals need a bigger pasture to roam than most city lots. Chickens are allowed in some cities. Here in Madison, Wi., up to 5 chickens can be raised on a city lot. But no roosters. Rabbits can also be raised in most cities. Most larger farm animals are banned.Check with your city officials for what is allowed.

I believe it has to do with the odor and possibly waste.
I don't have a problem with it but then again I love animals. I would rather have animals as neighbors than people most of the time. I like people but there are some people that are just so uncompromising and so emotionally detached. I believe it is the fault of our individualistic attitude. Not enough people seem to get that it is only life and that we are all in this life together. We can make it miserable for each other but thinking of only ourselves or we can work to make it happier for all by thinking of ourselves and each other. We need to recognize that our actions do affect other people. No one is his or her own island.

Poop. Who wants a big pile of bull plop in their neighbors back yard stinking up the place? Have you ever smelled a chicken coop? Pigs, horses and goats are no roses either. Besides, you could be in you back yard, enjoying a drink with a little umbrella in it, and ten pig bust down your fence from your neighbors "pet farm", and jump in your swimming pool for a nice dip and a dump. Animals stink and break stuff.

The number one reason in my opinion is it is unfair to to the animal to be raised in a small area neighborhood.
