It is going to be close this year. I think it will end up being Steve Slaton at West Virginia University. He is by far the most explosive back in the country, and as long as he stays healthy he will easily break the 2,000 yard mark. With Pat White and now Noel Devine in the backfield with him, no team is going to be able to stop him. The key to his success (other than his explosiveness and mental brilliance) is Owen Schmidt. This fullback literally breaks at least one face mask per game. He is a true beast. My guess is Slaton, hands down.

Right now, I would have to go with Darren McFadden out of Arkansas. If he puts up the numbers he put up last year, he will be tough to beat.
But then again, When I think of the Heisman Trophy, I think of the best player in the nation.
So how do you explain the best receiver since randy moss not winning it last year?
Because it takes national exposure and a winning team to get most the Heisman.
So by going by that theory, I would have to go with John David Booty from southern cal. There just loaded again this year, with there offensive talent, you could put any QB back there and they would make him look like an All American.

While Pat White and Steve Slaton are both amazing talents at there position, I think you'll see a drop off from last year, as they lost possibly the best offensive line coach in the country. I've heard that he is one mean SOB and can turn anybody into an All American offensive lineman. So I'll be interested to see what happens with the front 5 for west Virgina before I jump on the White and Slaton bandwagon.

There are not a whole lot that stand out right now to me, but with the way injuries go and there's always somebody new popping on the scene, the Heisman landscape may change dramatically by the end of the season.

I really don't care who wins it, I'm just hoping for some really exciting games this year.

Def will not be the best player, it will be the most popular player on the best team. They should wait til the bowl games are completed to award the Heisman. It's a joke!

Booty, especialliy if USC is undefeated
That program is basically a Heisman trophy creation machine

Who cares. The Heisman has turned into a joke. You think Smith would have been selected as the winner after the OSU-FLA game. I don't think so.

the early favorite is Darren McFadden but personally i think he is going to turn out like Adrian Peterson and then it will be Jon David Booty(something stinks)

2nd-Steve Slaton
3rd-Brian Brohm
4th-Ray Rice
5th-Desaun Jackson
6th-Mike Hart

But you have to wait until the season starts all of the guys might get injured and some guy out of Buffalo might get it

I would love to see Matt Flynn have the most amazing year ever for a QB and win it. Thats not gonna happen, so Im guessing McFadden.
