How is the Wi-Fi strength affected with multiple users off the same router? Does this degrade the up/down speed to the router? to the Internet?

If you only have one wireless router or access point, then it only sends out one signal. Everyone who uses the wi-fi is sharing that same signal. If request come in from multiple users, the router has to do a "first come first served". One get processed, and the rest set and wait in line until the first one is done.

So the more users you have on a wireless signal, the slower it will run.
