If I need to create a pic to use as a button what program do I do it in, and how do I save it (meaning will it be a .jpeg or .gif)?

The problem I am having is that when I am creating something in PowerPoint or word, then save it... it saves the WHOLE page with my graphic within the page. I want to just be able to save whatever graphic (i.e. button) I create.

Please help! Thank you so MUCH!

Hi,

Once you have created your drawing select all of its elements at once by clicking above and to the left of the object, then drag the mouse diagonally down to the lower right. If you did it right all of the elements will have the selected indicators turned on. (If the only thing on the slide is your button then you can use edit > select all.)

Right click on any one of the button elements and choose Group from the pop-up menu. Be careful not to click wildly and accidentally unselect the group of selected objects. All the button elements need to be selected when you create the Group.

Now, right click on the grouped object and choose Save As Picture.

There you go! No other software is needed.

The most basic program to do that would be Paint. Hightlight what you designed in PowerPoint, paste it in Paint and save it as a .jpg would work. I've done it a few times before.

You should try the Gimp, it has some modules to create web buttons, you only type the caption and the Gimp does the rest.
