The only way to remove a unit of measure (or anything else for that matter) is to divide by a quantity with the same unit of measure, etc.
By doing this, you are left only with a number, no units of measure, etc.

formulas. The formulas are only useful because
they approximately model real world phenomena.
Therefore, measurement is what the formulas
adhere to, and measured data sets are the
real world input which is plugged into the
theoretical formulas.
