it is not the job of the federal government to rebuild new orleans. it was declared a federal disaster area, money was allocated to assist in the clean up and rebuilding process, the levy's are being fortified and after that, it is up to the leaders at the city and state levels to see that the money is apportioned appropriately. in new orleans however, you have ray 'chocolate city' nagin and mary 'the president is a racist' landreau in critical leadership positions and they are both corrupt, inept, and incompetent...it is NOT the fault of the federal government that they were elected and then rewarded for their incompetence...it is the VOTERS of new orleans fault. you get the government you deserve if you do not take heed of this.

Screw New Orleans, it is going to be flood again anyway... Come on they are BELOW SEA LEVEL. How about some of the Washington people do more for Mississippi that got the brunt of the storm. I know I was there helping rebuild.

i think on his way to a retreat a couple of weeks after the flood bush was flying over and said hey! look! this place is flooded, if it wasn't a majority black population we coulda done somethin about that, but hey, i have an unnecessary oil war to fight to keep the stockholders of big business happy so maybe ill do something later or let them sort themselves out with a little money left over.

The UGLY PART is a third world country, China, has done a better job in one year in the aftermath of a huge natural disaster then we have done in two, and they set a goal and got the job done while we're still mired in political BS, pointing fingers and litigation as the people continue to suffer.
Makes ya wanna cry.
Peace

I personally found it very moving and very sad that both the governments and the corporations are not helping the people of New Orleans. America is capable of so much, and the country is letting itself down.
