Yea, that would be great!!! I actually lived in a small town & when they were getting ready to add new channels they sent a voting slip in with your invoice & you could pick 1 out of 3 channels to choose from. I don't know if they actually used it though because the ones I voted for never got picked?? Also in that town MTV was not allowed - can't remember why, but they did allow CMTV. I didn't like that. Your idea sounds like a good one because I"m like you, there are many channels that I never use - never even stop at! Why pay for something we're not using!?

I hear ya. I have Comcast (they're the only cable company in my area) and for basic cable (70 channels just about) and it's $52/month. Most of it is crap.
I wish I could pick what channels I would like and pay less per month.
My choices: local tv stations, Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network (for the kids), HGTV, TLC, Discovery, Discovery Health, CNN, Weather Channel, History Channel, Comedy Central, Game Show Network, Food network, Travel Channel, Court TV, Spike TV.

I hope that, soon, we all will have the right to buy only the channels of our choice. THIS IS WHAT IS FAIR! If the cables or satelite don't plan to offer their customers the option to have a costumised packadge, little by little, they will loose most of us. If we go to the supermarket with a list of the things we need or want, and, someone drops some of the things they think you should have and pay for, WOULD YOU? So......

To me, this is one of the best questions I have seen on here. I have Cable TV through Charter... and I agree there are so many channels that we don't watch. If they would let us pick our own channels I know that there are more people that would get cable that way then to have so many worthless channels to suffer through.

Actually, I would, what do I need with the Reality TV Channel, the Soap Opera Channel, and the 15 fishing channels, and all the lame *** ESPN channels, which all end up showing the same lame *** football game.

I think it would be a marvelous idea, I am so tired of paying almost $75.00 monthly and watching the same shows over and over, first to be booted would be the shopping channels, they would have to be paid for, I mean, heck the people who watch them are spending money with them, why not add a charge to have them as well

WOW, what a concept!! Great idea - I'd totally go for it if I had the choice! BTW, I get LESS than 100 channels of "nothing" and still pay $53.01/mo.! Sounds to me like you are getting a good deal in comparison!

i think this only makes sense. I have way too many channels on my dish service that i don't even use nor want. I only really watch like 5-7 channels so would only make sense to allow people to do this!

I agree, and have thought of that before. We are paying for it and we should have some say in what we get. It will take everyone complaining about it and stopping their service for a while to get it to happen. They don't understand anything but money, and they think they have us over a barrel but they don't. We just say the heck with it, put up with it and it is our fault. Same goes with gas prices.
