Hello
I am going to las Vegas this November with our 15 year old son and I was wondering what are the rules for children in the casinos. Can they watch you play the slots and things?

I also need to know what the weather will be like so I can take the appropriate clothing.

I really want to see a cirque du soleil show but I don't know what one to watch so. What is the best cirque du soleil show?

I am staying in the Luxor and just want to know what the hotel is like. Are the rooms clean? Is the service good? Ect.

Lastly where should I go to eat and drink, any other shows to see and all the must do's

THANK YOU

I work in a casino and yes kids are allowed in the casino's. But they are not allowed near the slot machine's or the table game's, security will ask them to move away from the gaming area/ machine's. Weather will be mild, so don't bring any heavy clothes to wear. I wear sandals all winter long, but do bring a lite jacket or a sweat shirt just in case (you might feel cold, were i won't) tennis shoes for walking along the strip, or a good pair of comfortable shoes ( you will be doing a lot of walking). Don't waste money on going to the Elvis museum, as there's nothing to see. Go to the Hilton instead, you can see all his costumes there for FREE.
The Paris has a great buffet (all you can eat) for $25.00 a person, sure it's a lot but it is really good. The Stratosphere also has a good buffet (breakfast) there is good at the buffet.
Binion's casino on Fremont Street has a good Prime rib dinner for $5.99, you can walk to the Fremont Street Experience. Fremont is off of Las Vegas Blvd. it's about a 15 minute walk from the Stratosphere (it's behind the Strat) Freemont puts on a free light show at night. The RIO has a good Buffet to, you can walk there also and the Palms is just across the road. The Mandalay Bay has a cool shark reef, i think it's about $ 16.00 a person. The Eiffel Tower, has a comedy club (but thats 21 and up) $ 19.00 a person with 1 free drink. If you would like to try something different the Californa casino has good Hawaiian food at the Market street cafe, it's over near Freemont stree. Stop off at Planet Hollywood there's lot's of little shops in there, not every casino is the same. Some have shops in side them, the New York New York is a must see in side. And check out the M&M store, there's a Dennys down on the strip the food is good there (Burgers and stuff like that, prices are ok there) your hotel will have a free book telling you all about shows, dinning and shopping. You might want to carry a bottle of water around with you, you will get dry out here fast. If you are thining of renting a car for the day, you can go to the Hoover Dam it's a bout a 30 minute drive from Vegas. Also you can drive around Vegas at night and drive out to the outskirts of town, and see Vegas at night. Parking in all of the casino parking garage's is free, not to sound cheap but before you pay an arm and a leg going up to the Eiffel Tower ($20.00 )you can go up to the Tropicana parking garage and look out over the whole of vegas at night (free) Any questions feel free to email me, have a great trip and enjoy your time here.

First of all, minors are not allowed on the gaming floor. Security will politely ask you to remove your children from the floor if they linger too long. It's against the law, so even a family friendly place will enforce the rules. However, Luxor has a nice arcade and things on the second level. If your son is happy with playing video games and stuff, it's not a bad babysitter if he's somewhat responsible.

"O" is probably the best show. But you still can't go wrong with "Ka" or "Mystere". You won't be unhappy with any of them!

I highly recommend Luxor - before I moved to Las Vegas it was my hotel of choice. The rooms are clean, the service is great, the pool is fantastic, the buffet tasty and a good value for a strip casino, and the tables had reasonable stakes. The rooms are clean and the hotel has excellent service.

Where you should eat and drink is up to you, as well as the shows other than Cirque Du Soleil. However, the Luxor buffet is good for the price. AVOID the Excalibur buffet (and cafe) at all costs. Luxor cafe is also a good place for late night dining. Luxor bars are also good. Before I moved to Las Vegas, I went there often and I have three drink cups - a knight helm shaped one from Excalibur and two Obilesks from Luxor.

Not to be missed? Well, the other two shows I highly recommend are Blue Man Group and Lance Burton. I've seen both, would see them again in a heartbeat.

Must-dos? Walk the strip. I mean walk it up and down the casinos. See the white tigers in the Mirage. Walk through Caesar's Palace incredible sports book, then walk the Forum Shops. See the canal in the Venetian.

The weather is going to be a bit on the cool side at that time of year. Enjoy the pools, but they won't be what they are in the summer. If you want to do something family friendly that is a lot of fun and will save you money (if you have a rental car), look up when the Las Vegas Wranglers ECHL hockey team plays in Las Vegas. Take the family and enjoy the game. The real good part is they give out 2-for-1 buffet coupons if you have a players card (easy to get; just sign up). The Orleans probably has the best value buffet in Las Vegas, and with the coupons, it is definately the best!

Looking for stuff to give the neighbors, your friends, and the mother-in-law? The Worlds Largest Sourviner Stand at Sahara is what you want. Get them packs of used playing cards ($1.00 a pack) or something!

The weather will be nice - bring a jacket because it can feel very chilly when the wind blows. I would advise bringing clothes that can be layered depending on what you're planning to do that day.

Anyone under the age of 21 is not permitted to linger in the casino - your son can walk in the aisles but can't linger by the tables or the slots. Luxor has some things that he might enjoy doing - there are some "motion" rides, the IMAX theatre and an arcade where he can spend some time. Luxor is also connected to Mandalay Bay via a mall. Mandalay Bay has the Shark Reef which is worth a visit. There's a roller coaster at NYNY and the lions at MGM Grand.

As for the Cirque du Soleil shows - I have seen KA and really liked it (MGM Grand). Family members have seen O and Mystere and highly recommend them. Zumanity is the only one that I haven't heard rave reviews about and it may not be appropriate for your son. If David Copperfield or Wayne Brady are in town while you're there then I would suggest seeing their shows as well as one of the Cirque shows.

The Luxor is nice. The tower rooms are a bit fancier than the pyramid rooms but if you stay in the pyramid rooms then you get to experience the Inclinator (elevator that moves up the incline of the pyramid). I stayed at the Luxor twice and visited it many times and have always enjoyed it. Their buffet is good for breakfast especially as is Mandalay Bay's buffet. I love Mandalay Bay's dinner buffet and also like the buffet at MGM Grand. Do not eat at the buffet at the Excalibur.

Other restaurants that I like are Pearl (Asian fusion - MGM Grand), Delmonico's (Emeril Lagasse's place at the Venetian), In-n-Out Burger (all over Vegas) and the Luxor Steakhouse. Some restaurants are hard to get reservations for so try to get reservations as soon as you get into town so you can be sure that you are able to get in.

If you're renting a car then the Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon are wonderful out of the city excursions. Lake Meade and the Hoover Dam are also neat to see. I always want to see the Volcano at the Mirage, the Fountains at the Bellagio, Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden at the Mirage, the Lions at the MGM Grand and the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton. You should also take a trip to Fremont street for a couple of hours and see the older casinos.

I hope that you have a great time in Vegas!

Sunset Stampede- Sam's Town
Show times are 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm daily.

Other that that..
Venetian - has very nice Italian style-setting. Ride the Gondola, it can be very nice.

Caesars Palace - has the place set as if you were in the Ancient-Rome. It also has a good shopping place! And check out their Atlantis show right by the arcades!

Bellagio - The Garden, very nice picture spot on the inside right by the lobby, they change the theme according seasons! Also they have the biggest chocolate fountains in the world!

Mandala Bay - Aquarium that 12,200 gallons of water with tropical fish and sharks too!

Circus Circus - has a whole floor level for arcade games (The Midway) where you can play for cheap and win prizes! And they also have an indoor-theme park, The Adventure Dome, where they have rides and other arcade games! Check out the free Circus Acts also, right above the casino level!

Luxor - has a very nice egyptian theme, and you can take a picture with the Sphinx and the pyramid in the background. (right outside the hotel)

Paris - go up the Eiffel Tower, it's not too high but you can still get a great view of the city.

Strathosphere - go up to the Strathosphere tower and it has a really nice beautiful view from up top. Plus, there are some roller-coaster rides up there too, but if you're afraid of heights, I wouldn't recommend it.

The Mirage - has a very beautiful Tropical Forest, and Coral Reef Aquarium and their infamous White Tigers!

Flamingo Hotel - very nice wildlifes from around the world, they have the garden filled with exotic birds, ucks, penguins, swans, turtles, koi and of course the Chilean flamingos.

MGM - lion habitat!

New York New York - they have a memorial spot for the September 11 remberance right infront of the Statue of the Liberty. Also they have a roller coaster that cost $12 per ride!

Also on the strip, right across NewYork NewYork, there's a big M&M's store. If you're a big M&M's lover, it's the best store for you. Next to it, there's a big Coca-Cola store, and Gameworks somewhere near too!

Okay, I hope that helps! :) Have a fun trip! And kids are not allowed in the casinos, they can pass by but they have to keep walking. If they're just standing there even for just watching, the security will tell you to keep going..

I can answer a couple of your questions.
No one under the age of 21 is allowed in the gaming area..even to watch.
Weather in November will be very nice, you might need a light weight jacket at night.
The Luxor is nice but I have never been in the rooms.
Have fun and leave lots of money for us...lol

I have been to vegas many times and no kids are not allowed anywhere near the gambling area . the luxor is overpriced try the excaliber instead . Much more reasonable and clean as well . the staff is friendlier too. there are some things for the kids to do . also the circus shows I have not been too so I could not tell you about those . good luck and have a nice trip.
