Move in a different direction. Like moving the second to the left, and then the third to the right, ok??? How do I do that? I need something cheap, easy and inexpensive if there is such a thing. Also where is a good store to get paint and accessories for making model houses? I mean like not craft paint but colors for like houses exteriors and interiors, because I want it to look as real as possible.

What are the best woods to use? I ws thinking of using plywood for the flooring, but I was wondering if there was anything better. And when I am choosing for the walls, what are the best woods, adn what size and kind of nails should I use, because I don't want the wood to split because I used the wrong nail.

I am sorry if I sound like someone who has no idea what she is talking about, but that is probably because I don't!!

i only have an answer about paint, but for the rest, you can probably find a book at the library to give you some hints and ideas.
for paint, go to your local hardware and paint store, and ask the employee behind the paint counter what they do with extra paint, mismatched colors, and special mixed colors that weren't picked up. often they mix more than they need for an order, but it's not something that will sell, and you can buy small cans for a decent price.
this website might help a little, there are pictures of nice doll houses, and you can get an idea of all the things you would need to make it look real. www.fancydollhouses.com/
good luck, doll houses can be a time consuming, expensive hobby, but definitely lots of fun.

A quick, simple fix for displacing the floor:

In a common corner, insert a rod (coat-hanger wire) thru to a solid foundation point. With minor reinforcement, you should be able to move each floor off of each other from this pivot-point. The size of the rod & method of reinforcement will depend on the scale of the model, and the weight of the floors.

Best woods or materials ? IT would REALLY depend on SCALE... in architectural models I use card-stock, cardboard, Balsa wood, and modelling plywood. Is this a model or a doll-house ?

Paint ? Check out a model-hobby shop that deals in model railroading... FLOQUIL is a series of railroad paints in enamal and water-based formulas that include alot of "Home" type colors.

You might also find "accessories" there in 1:87 (HO-scale) or 1:50 (O-scale).

Good Luck.

I don't know the answer to any of your questions, but I have an idea you absolutely have to try! I saw this in a library book when I was a kid. They tiled the bathroom floor with lentils! It looked so great! It was done in a spiral type of pattern. Oh it was great!

What are you making a model house for? Are you an architect? Usually in architecture school they teach you how to make these. Here are a few resources for you to get started:
