splashing in the bath and getting water in the ear isn't that common. Once in awhile the water won't come out on it's own in which case it can travel to the middle ear and cause either an ear infection or vertigo. However this isn't very common for babies, and especially not in the bathtub. Usually when water gets into the middle ear is when swimmers are doing their strokes, that's why this is called "swimmer ear." If you notice your son tugging at his ear, his ears turning really red, A lot of crying when tugging at his ear, then that's the symptoms of an ear infection, and most likely is caused by mucus build up in the throat or nose then from water. So let your little cutie splash and have fun because if you take away his fun bathtime could become a potential nightmare for you. Best of luck.

THAT shouldn't be a problem for your sweet baby.....But, long as it comes back out....If the water stays in the ears it could eventually be a problem. Just dry and hold his little head and lay it in a towel after bath time and let the water flow out. A lot of babies have water in the ear problems. My daughter did, and so did my grand-daughter. ANY fever is cause for alarm and it is usually an ear infection...Anti-biotics can help that. BUT if it becomes a regular problem. Your Dr. will want to place tubes in his ears. AND that's not a bad thing, no worries. My grand-daughter had the tubes and they fall out themselves after a couple of years. And then, problem is solved. She is fine. But the tubes simple hold the ear passages open, as to prevent infections from occurring. As they grow this problem lessens. BUT during this time, with the tubes...you still need to cover his ears and keep them dry. This is a very common problem. But long as there is no fever, no need to worry.....Your obviously a great, concerned mom.....you'll know what to do if there is a problem....Other than a fever...he will rub his little ears...and seem whiny....

No, it won't cause an infection! He won't mind it - just like you probably don't when you shower. NOticeable signs of an ear infection is baby pulling on the ear and being out of sorts. Don't worry - let him have fun in the bath!!
And he's a real cutie!

I've never worried about getting water in my babies ears (I have two). I let them spash and play. I even pour water on their heads to wash their hair. Neither has ever once had an ear infection and they are 14 months and 3 years.

He won't care, and it will come out by itself (don't be tempted to stick things in his ear canal to try to dry it out, that's much more likely to cause him a problem).
