Just bought a Corsa 1.5 GLS TD. Was curious what 'GLS' actually means?

Grand Luxury Sport - Though some still subscribe to the old french titles.

I can't fathom how they determine a Corsa as being Grand, Luxurious, or sporty?

Historically it probably meant "Grand Luxe Super"
However most car version names have since lost their meanings, and many are simple collections of letters that don't have any meaning.
