i have football manager 2006 adn i had a look at fabien barthez, it says he has a global ban until some date in 2005 did this really happen and if so why???

Yes, Barthez was banned for spitting at football referee Abdellah El Achiri, a Moroccan ref, during a match between Olympique and Wydad Casablanca in 2005
The ban was initially for 6 months but he was offered a reduction to 3 months if he agreed to do community service.
