Someone has already said it, but there are some very naive people who believe just because you set up a 'non profit making' limited company, have a board or directors, and a few guildlines that makes it safe from what the average Jo would call corruption. We wont know what they spend the money on until the accounts are file in 2009, even then as any Director of a limited company knows, its possible to produce a very basic and legal set of accounts that the average guy in the street would not have a clue what they spent the money on.

My response - Please can you tell the rest of us how you know for a FACT that Private Detectives were not used. Please also share with us, why you feel this information would have been made public.
Nobody would be told if there were Private Investigator/s working on this case as surely it would compromise their investigation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They do have a committee that is running it along charity guidelines at present but I dont think that would stop them in theory from taking over and using all the money 'to assist the McCanns' as its one of the articles.
So I guess they have but I doubt very much they would do so. Honestly, I think they will run it like the Suzi Lamplugh Trust did with their money.

The naivety of many of the respondents above is alarming. The McCanns do have control of the fund because all the officers of the company are relatives or family friends! The officers were hand-picked by the McCanns - two relatives and doctors Gerry has worked with.
There are no details at all on the website as to how funds have been spent. If the aim of the fund is finding Madeleine as stated, surely the majority of the fund should have been spent? It hasn't been. Why? Why haven't PIs been hired?
It's a scam, plain and simple.

i no it will get them a better house and better holidays and what ever else money can buy but i dont think its bribery i think its wrong they need to be very careful as they are sending out the wrong message to young niave people my own sister said that she would do the same thing if she ever had kids and went on holiday was ripping she thankfully has no kids what a nice message to leave young peopel with my sisters excuse was sure the mccanns did it and no one said anything to them

What a vile person you are. This money is in a fund for other people and their lost children. When you are abroad on holiday, your time is limited to probably a couple of weeks, and if you have not got the money to help you , to get people to help, this, is a gesture for their concern. . As far as I am concerned in all walks of life there is lots of these people around who will do all they can to help. This is one way..!! So how you can even write such a remark , and shows that probably you would walk away from any tragedy such as this, and not even care if it was a member of your family .
