back in the day we used to pack a lunch - a couple of sandwiches and some water & cold drinks into a cooler and bring them to the ballpark. it saved money, was tastier and now they won't let you bring the stuff in - like i'm gonna put a bomb in my sandwich ??

It's all about money, money money. The fan doesn't come first as in the past. Those days are gone.
However, we also have a minor league team in our area. They want all the attendance they can get. In some ways it's a lot better than going to the major team.
It certainly is a whole bunch cheaper. And they don't mind us bringing in carrying cases with food and some drink.

Lots of dumb reasons they give for that (we don't want you bringing in alcohol, nothing that can be thrown onto the field), but the true reason is consessions. You are a hostage while at the game and they can charge whatever they want.

A call to the front office saying while they can't align the concessions to what's available on the outside or the ability to bring in food, you won't be attending the game or using their sponsors.

I make it known to a lot of companies why I don't support them the way they want me to and the conditions under which I would support them.

But while there are lineups at the concessions and a pile of garbage at security, they won't care about your voice.

That's why those 'gas station boycotts' don't work.

I don't think it's the bomb their worried about. It's the losing $5 for a single hotdog at the concessions, not the mention the $6 soda and $39 nachos......

well all i can say is you can feel happy about the amount of people you are keeping in work!! think about how many people would not have a job if there were no security treats!! i recon world wide it must amount to a million and more people!! but i live in a free world or so i thought so if i want to take my own food with me i would and always will unless there is a law brought out to say i cannot then i would have a rethink!! and where there is a will there is a way!! picnic like its your birthday lol!!!

try Yankee stadium...i just went there recently..no coolers, no purses, no bags, no video cameras, I had a digital camera and they checked to see if it had a camera. When u enter the park no signs designating no smoking. It's only when u want a cig do they tell u no smoking in the park. So i went outside...in the fresh air....they said I would be escorted out if I lit my cigarette......WTH??? outside??? won't be going back to the bronx for awhile....new stadium or not

Depends on the ballpark. At which one were you so affronted? Consider abandoning fandom of that team and going with a better option. That'll show 'em.

Its not about terrorism.. it never has been.

Its about them selling there overpriced food and beer. And as far as beer goes, can you imagine if they just let people bring in whatever they want. You would see groups of guys bringing cases of beer into the games and getting tanked. I agree that people should be able to bring their own food in, but not beer or liquor.

You can bring in food to the A's games - they wont let us bring in cans, bottles etc....

We usually will eat dinner there but preffer to bring in our own treats - my son loves those sunchips, slim jims and red vines

seems the ball parks have been waiting on an excuse (like 9/11 ) to make us buy an $8 hot dog
