The world deals in the metric system. The United States I belive is the only country that deals with the standard measuring system. The metric system is more accurate then the standard system, but is harder to understand if you are not use to using it. Get out the math books and learn to convert standard to metric. It really isn't that difficult once you get use to it.

We, in Australia, use the metric system, hence meters and kilograms.
The scientific world also uses the metric system.
Velocity is meters per second.
Energy content is kJ per gram.
Etc,.
