When doing 'the Big Clean'...which room do you start with?

I start at the top of the house and clean downwards...that way the dust and everyhting else doesnt get trackecd through.

I usually start with the first room someone will see when they walk in my house. That is what gives the first impression. Then I move on from there & follow the order of the house. So in my case it would be the living room, dining room, kitchen. Then I move to the bathroom & do the bedrooms last because you can always shut the doors. If I'm really pressed for time before company comes, I always makes sure the bathroom is clean & then do a very quick straightening up in the other areas so it at least looks neat.

Now if you're talking about not just cleaning, but also going through things to clear out things you don't need... I say do the easiest room first. That way you'll have a sense of accomplishment. You won't feel so overwhelemed & will be motivated to move on to the next area.

It changes from big clean to big clean... but usually start with the spare room cos thats where all the junk gets put during the little cleans.

I always start at the top of the house, that way;
1. I lug all the cleaning stuff, mop, hoover etc up first, while I still have the energy
2. All the dust travels down to get cleaned later
3. I end up in the kitchen where I get a nice cup of tea at the end of it all!

The kitchen. I don't have a BIG CLEAN very often and only have four rooms in total so it doesn't take that long once I set my mind to it ... usually when I know someone's coming, which isn't very often.

I usually start with the bathroom, because it normally takes the longest to clean good. Then on to the kitchen. When I'm done with those, the rest seems like a breeze to finish off.

wow every1 in here seem to clean the kitchen first thing or the second thing... i always leave the kitchen to the last since i still go in there to drink or eat...!

But i start off with bedrooms then baths then living room then corridor, then the games room and the last thing Kitchen! [=

The sitting/living room, bcos this is the room tht you (usually) invite ppl into more often, also if you do this room first it gives you somewhere to relax between cleaning rooms.

at the end of the day i have to sleep here.
if i dont get to something else in the house ... well it will be there next time but if ya bedroom is all messy then u cant go to sleep ...
so i clean my room first then the rest of the house
