With no other detail in your Q and with all due respect to you and Benjy, your Q reads "SHOULD"
That's pretty relative to what one WANTS in the form of TECH stuff.
At the most basic; a home has electricty and plumbing installed. From that point, it's pretty much a personal choice as to "toys" Most of society today has a telephone line coming into the house, many have computers, televisions, musical sound systems, all manner of appliances; tools, etc.
WE, in a modern society have decided that in many cases we NEED most of what we have, yet usually want more. On a personal note I enjoy that less is more.
I also equate Technology to many living in 3rd World nations; where an open fire in a single room, housing a family, may be as High Tech as they can have? OR that connections with the Outside world might happen communally with a single TV or radio in a village? Obviously not every one of the nearly 8 billion of us living here, has the luxury to define TECH as electronics, or Toys.

At home, I have cable TV with 42' flat large screen with DVD player & speakers. Some of my friends have this in a theather room where they invite friends over the weekend for the occasional movies. I am working on 2 wireless laptops- one for surfing & the other for working. I can work anywhere at home even in the living room watching TV. For this mobilty, you need wireless broadband setup. At least, 2 phone lines - one for home & the other fax/home office & broadband line(on while I'm awake). I have a multipurpose Brother laser copier, scanner & printer & a Canon A3 colour printer for colour printing. An Olympus digitial camera & skype headphones/microphones and camera comes in handy. A portable radio keep the office lively during the day. I seldom ipod. Opps don't forget the handphone with the ear peace to be more mobile. Vola, there you have it- a minimum complete home-office. Cherrio.
