They recently announced they will support it for at least 4 more years, but they probably will for longer than that

Microsoft will not stop supporting XP because its been a major operating system for years. Still so many users have Windows XP on their system including me. Even if there is new OS vista came out, they will continue supporting XP because its their product, and as long as the product is being use. In fact Microsoft will launch a 3rd major update for XP on early 2008 which is SP3. They will also launch a major update for Vista which is SP1 on early 2008.

NOt for at least another 12 months - and then why should it be a problem! Bet you know someone who is happily running Windows 2000 or even 98 without problems! In actual fact, XP will become less interesting to virus makers as Vista will have taken over that role!

ya surely at some point they will certainly stop
supporting....
this happens wen thier other os have good markets...
as of now vista has to have a good reach .. and they need to bring in few more versions of the same... wen the market 4 vista picks up they ll stop services to xp(source:: easily guessed frm history of ms with win 98 and other OS....)

i'm thinkin it is going to likely be there longer than help often hangs with an op sys. i'm bettin Vista is gonna have an prolonged time ever getting a foothold! too plenty risk-free practices! i think of Vista is attempting to place the kibosh on P2P and that i doubt that shoppers are gonna like that throughout any respect!
