Graphite would be my suggestion out of the two.

Graphite is a dry lubricant - so it will not attract and retain dust that drifts into the mechanism.

Simply rubbing a pencil over a key and waggling it in the lock can add a little graphite to the mechanism. Just obviously clean key afterwards....... :)

Dishsoap sounds like a grim option to me - It may help in the short term - but you will end up with a gungy mess - that will bond to any dust that enters the lock - either just flaoting on the air or carried in on the key. Definately not my preferred option here.

Graphite is a better solution. Dishsoap doesn't last.

Spray on de-greaser works a treat. My front door lock was sticking really bad and now its fine. You can use any thing that will act as a lubricant.....

A light oil sounds better to me!

Try furniture polish.It works on lots of things.

I'd suggest WD40 penetrating oil.
