Your life is certainly not useless, that's number one thing to get straight.
You know what the problem is, which is wonderful, and even better, you know what you'd rather be doing. All you need to do is change the situation - it's that simple.
Talk to someone in your college - a tutor or student advisor. Tell them exactly what you've said here - that your heart is really in studying physics, not computer engineering. Find out what the practical options are.
They may well suggest transferring to a physics course in the same college, if that's possible. Lots and lots of people do that. If there is no course, then think about transferring to another college which does run what you want to do.
I've personally known loads of people who did just that, and their lives became happier almost immediately, once they'd settled into doing something they loved.

I wish you all the very best. It can be easy to feel trapped when you're in the middle of it, but especially with education, there are so many options open to you - just be honest about what you want to do (as you have been here) and do it.

It might also be worthwhile thinking about why you took a course you didn't really want to do. Was it because of family pressure, or because it was all that college had to offer?
If it was family pressure, then remember it's your life and you need to enjoy a subject to do your best in it.
If it was all the college had to offer, then look for another one. There's more than one good college in the world, and at the end of the day, you're probably better off being happy and getting good grades from one with less reputation than doing less well or dropping out of a good one.

All the very best to you.

You need to do what ever it is that you love.
Go to another college to study Physics... Its never too late to pick up where you left off.

I started college thinking I wanted to be a biology major with my concentration in Clinical Lab. Two years later, Im now a Criminal Justice major. Its a big "switch-around" but at least I feel like Im actually headed somewhere; even if that means I have to stay in school another 2 semesters.

Life is not useless. Do what you love... And not too many people understand physics, so if you do, persue it and help others (like me) understand it too!

You are damned good!
Your life is full of mystery.
You're too smart to let anything stop you from what you really want.
You had a little fall.
Take a break and breathe deep.

Now get up, dust yourself off, and get back on the track!!!

Follow your heart baby! Go with the wind, do what you feel is best, and love it as you go.
