My little 3 year old cousin ,Faith, is very sick. She has Aplastic Anemia. This is where the bone marrow is being destroyed in her body.
I wanted to send her Mom a poem to encourage her but when I try no words come to me. All that comes to me is sadness and tears. The family is very Christian and every one is praying. I want to give Faith and her Mom something more.

Can you please help me with a poem for them?

Zina Rae, I am so sorry for your cousin's illness. I have and will continue to pray for her recovery. Here is a poem I just wrote, I hope it brings some comfort:

A Prayer for Faith

I feel the waters rising over me,
You say, You are there.
I feel the heat of the flames,
Again, You say, You are there.

And while I believe this,
Want to believe this,
Struggle to believe this,
Need to believe this…

I am on Moriah alone,
And there is no ram
In sight. You say,
Faith is not by sight.

There are so many things you say,
So many things I have trouble remembering.
While I appreciate the words,
I’ve moved beyond words now.

If I could put myself in the place
Of my little girl I would.
If I could be that ram,
I would over-and-over again.

But that is something only You can do.
My Faith is weak Lord.
My precious Faith is weak.
Help my Faith.

Walk into that water, into that fire,
Into those places I can’t go.
I know You understand;
You too, had a child that suffered.

For a poem to be meaningful in this situation, it must be personal. Having a three year old that is very sick is horrible for the parents.

As a parent I can only imagine (and pray that the Lord will spare my family from knowing that pain.)

The person that is writing this must know a couple of things about the child involoved. What is her favorite toy, what does she call it? What is her favorite movie? How often does she want to see it? What WON'T she eat? and what does she do when she sees that food item? What can she absolutely not get enough of?

Since she is very young, the poet would want to know some circumstances about the couple as well. Was the baby planned by them or a "divine accident." How was the baby born and where, how was the labor, was it long or short.

The more details the poet has in this situation the better off he/she is. The key is to really feel empathy for the child and for the parents. That requires a ton more knowledge than you would put on YA.

If you have any further questions about this, my email is pianoman.anderson@gmail.com.

I am sorry for your feeling of loss and sadness. I will be talking to the Lord about you and today.

I have never been good at poems, but i have song for you.

I call this song "i gotta have faith" Enjoy!

Well I guess it would be nice
If I could touch your body
I know not everybody
Has got a body like you

But I’ve got to think twice
Before I give my heart away
And I know all the games you play
Because I play them too

Oh but i
Need some time off from that emotion
Time to pick my heart up off the floor
And when that love comes down
Without devotion
Well it takes a strong man baby
But I’m showing you the door

’cause I gotta have faith...

BE HAPPY
There are times in your life, when the road seems so long.
When you think to yourself, just what else can go wrong?
You may feel in your heart, that it's so hard to win.
That what once made you laugh cannot now make you grin.
Despair's in the mind, like the tunnel of night.
But after the dark, you are flooded with light.

Just turn back your mind, to the good times you've had.
To the friends you have made, and of why you felt glad.
To those in your life, whom you shower with love.
Like the warmth on your back, from the sun up above.
Now if you do this, you will say without doubt.
Just what in the world, was I worried about?

Why not get lyrics from a hymn?
I cant think of any "healing"/"god, show us your mightiness" hymns right now... but try looking in a hymnal.
This would be perfect because the family is Christian... what better words than that of which originated from a hymn.

Hope this helps. And I hope your cousin gets better. (Im a bone marrow donor... Lets see if they call me in regards to a possible bone marrow match!)

I'm really sorry to hear about your cousin. It's always really sad to hear children dying from a disease (which is why I think a children's hospital is very depressing).
I do write, but unfortunately I can't write for her since she isn't my cousin. If the family is Christian, you can look up some inspirational quotes about children in the Bible for them. I hope she gets better soon.

these are our days here
when sun and rain must endure
and leaves must fall from trees
from whispers of a roving breeze
and spring shall come again
and flowers shall bloom to remind
that seasons of life will bloom
when the time for them is soon
to come and begone
like every life's song.

Forget the poems, do some research on the condition. Maybe there is something that can be done, like a diet change. Good luck..
