the past week I have had a really bad sweet tooth. I had major ankle surgery 2 weeks ago, it was a four hour surgery and then I had to have a cathiter put in because I wasnt peeing. So I am on crutches for the next 11 weeks and I havnt really gotten my apitite back, but this sweet tooth is killing me. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem after a major surgery, and if anyone has any good ideas for a healthy sweet tooth snack? I know its kinda a goofy question but if anyone has any good ideas I would love it!!!

It can be an effect of the anesthesia used in surgery. I had this problem after surgery, and I ate apples and caramel for a while, and then I progressed to soups and got my appetite back. As long as you eat a little bit, and make sure you are keeping yourself hydrated it should come back fairly quickly if it does not I would suggest contacting your surgeon. Good luck!

Yes, this could be an aftereffect of the surgery in particular the anesthesia but I would recommend getting in touch with your doctor to let them know what's going on so that they can evaluate the situation further.
