Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival in Northeast Ohio. Held this year October 13 and 14. Not the usual eating and drinking based event,although there is food and drink. You can take tours of the covered bridges or do your own driving. There are also a lot of local wineries and the leaves are beautiful that time of year. I know it's past your window of travel,but it might be something to keep in mind.
