Its always the same beep pattern, 4 beeps, but it only does it sometimes. They come through computer speakers, alarm clock, and baby monitor. Also, the computer screen surges sometimes when it happens. I think it may be some electrical interference. Is this something to be concerned about?

You are correct, there is some sort of interference your electrical equipment is picking up. If it is a recent occurance, I would look for a new outdoor antenna near your home, in someone elses yard. Signal bleed from a source is to blame, you have to find the source. With the computer screen surging, the possibility that the interference could blow it out is very real.

Have you installed any new electronics? If so, unplug them and give enough time to find out if that solves the problem.

Not only could it be from an antenna, the kind used for HAM stations and CB base stations, but it could be from a CB radio in the area.

You might want to check with your neighbors within a 500 yard radius. Start with your next door neighbors and work your way outward. You are more likely to find them nearer than further.

If you still cannot not find the source, call your local electric company and ask them to check the lines near your home. Beyond that, you may want to call the FCC, Federal Communications Commission and report sevier electrical interference in your neighborhood.

US eletrical codes prohibit interference by many devices and they have the authority to check out your complaint.

It is likely someone is using some electrical device that has not been properly grounded and you are getting the power feedback.

Before making the calls, check your house's or building's electrical ground. If you are in a home, you should have at least a 6 or 8 foot long copper grounding rod embedded in the ground with a large guage copper wire running from the houses electrical box to it. If the ground is broken, repair it. I have seen them broken as a result of being run over with a lawn mower or sliced by flying debris from the mower and I've seen them cut by weed trimmers and edgers.

I hope this helps.

For one thing, check your wires, it sounds like you have a loose wire that's vibrating, it's rather simple. All your wires on something like this should be soldered so this doesn't happen.

Outside interference could be from a ham radio but, these are regulated and should be filtered unless some young kids is using one without a license and not properly wired. A kit of some kind but, that would be found out pretty fast.
You can also get a filter for these interferences form Radio Shack.

Cell phones cause this if they are left near an alarm clock or tv , that might be the problem. mine sometimes picks up the upstairs neighbors in the apartment building too. strange.

the above answer is great but I want to add just one more thing to check.

Do you have a cell phone? It will cause interference as well. Mine does it every so often and more so if it is close to the satellite box, the computer, etc.

It very well could be one of your cell phones pinging a tower saying "here I am". Mine does this sometimes when I have a certain radio set on.
