See shambos question below here.
If the so called 'antis' are getting 5 thumbs down but only on 'pro' or 'anti the antis' has actually answered does that mean the others are lurking and not talking?
I don't know about anyone else but I only rate questions I've answered!

I'm not concerned about getting thumbs down I just don't get why some people go to the bother of thumb downing questions and not adding their opinion into the mix!
And now I've went to all this bother to as a question about it!

I never thumb down questions. Just kind of stupid if you ask me. Its not like you get points or lose points for it. I already know that plenty of people out there will not share my opinion on things. I do give thumbs up however for well answered questions and will even give thumbs up for a question I disagree with but debated maturely.

I don't rate answers at all. The only ones I give thumbs up are the ones that are answering my question as a thank you for taking the time to answer. I don't think that I have the right to disrespect another persons opinion no matter what it is.
Obviously people like to disrespect my opinion given the amount of thumbs down I have received so far.....Oh well.

Steph j did you ever take into account that maybe some people would rather use the thumbs down because they fear answering questions because they don't want a violation or to have their accounts suspended. We all know there have been a lot of violations and suspensions on these msg boards.
Talking from experience I use to be a level 4 answered some questions about you know what and wham violation notices and then wham account suspended.

I don't know...but it could be because someone has already mirrored their view in an answer....not much point in answering a question that already has an identical answer to the one you were going to post...so i imagine instead of answering they give the thumbs up to the answer they most agree with and the thumbs down to the answer they least agree with.... i don't see it as an issue....some people thumbs down for no apparent reason, a couple of weeks ago someone asked if ex army personnel could post a msge for his dying grandfather, and unbelievably some sicko was giving the thumbs down to the answers....now THAT bothers me....people thumbing down inane answers doesn't bother me at all...and all this pathetic pro and anti McCann stuff just shows me a few people on here are more concerned with personal glory than the actual tragic case... otherwise why would thumbs up or down be an issue? its just people voicing their opinion either way....

I'm afraid I am guilty of this at times, mainly because I cant be ar*d to reply to a question that I have answered so many times before.
For example there have been a lot of questions recently from would be BNP, I usually answer telling them they are just a group of fascists, but when I see answers that say what a good idea fascism is I give the reply a thumbs down!
And it does my heart good to see loads of other thumbs down for the same response. It just demonstrates how a lot of folk think of a different point of view.
As another example this reply of mine to your question could well get loads of thumbs down from BNP fok because they dont like what I have said about them!
Do I care?? Not at all, I just have a little laugh.

Heather, I did that at first, but later, when I went to answer some questions, the answer had already been given. I started reading the other answers, and realized that some answers had erroneous information. So I used the thumbs down button to relay the message that that answer was wrong.
Other times, I have answered a question and when it was posted, other answers have come in that had incorrect information, or were very nasty -not even trying to be funny, so I gave them a thumbs down. That's the way I do it, but there are no "rules" about how any of us does it. Just enjoy it, however you do it.

This is internet. Non of us will probably see each other in real life. It's kind of easy to be jackasses and mean and nasty in here. You didn't notice that?

Interesting...but how can you tell if a person who gave a thumbs down (or up) didn't answer the question themselves?
I sometimes also give stars to good questions I'm not answering - mostly due to other answerers having the same opinion as I would.
