You should start your own business as a divorce planner. It's more lucrative.

Wow, you are brave - I have a friend who did this and pleasing everyone is really difficult... but good for you if it is what you want! Check out other wedding planners first - do your research - what they offer, what they charge, success rate, other planners in your area. How they go about their business (i.e. visits, etc). You will also need to build up a variety of suppliers - florists, invitation makers, hairdressers, dress shops etc and haggle to get the best deal.
Good luck with it, but research is the most important thing you can do first of all.

Hi..well done for going it alone, i didnt regret it but it is hard work. Would recommend you gt a free meeting with a small business advisor at you bank. They can be very helpful ad have a lot of knowledge with contacts and recommendations.
They can hep sort out finances to start with and help you plan.
Secondly, check out the competition and what is on offer in the area you plan to work in. Adverts are good, one place you might like to place an advert is your local church mag, usually a one off yearly fee and your ad will appear each month. Good for brides to see etc. Also maybe leave leaflets in church! Get florists on side and ask for reductions if you are going to recommend them, same for caterers and dj's etc. Try to find good people who are reliable and you can build relationship up with as everyone wants continuing business.
Hope it goes well for you.

In a consultant type business like this you start with customers, customers, customers.

If you have experience in this industry then you should already have some contacts. You let people know you are going out on your own and build up a customer base from people who already know and like you.

Next you need to get your information together. Eg, decorations, venues, cakes, catering, clothes etc. Have photos to show potentional customers.

Finally, you have to promote yourself.

In China they do something interesting. They setup wedding planning exhibitions in local malls, complete with photos and other information. Couples walking through the mall can stop and start talking (you can imagine many brides to be, or girlfriends dragging their boyfriends to look at these photos and talk about their weddings).

Unless you have exeperience in the industry, it will be hard to get references from people for planning.

There is a business plan workbook by Colin Barrow, which tells you from A to Z how to start a business - it basically guides you on how to prepare a business plan which will be your blueprint for your business.

I would advise you definately do this before you jump into anything! At least then you have a plan! Good luck!

P.S. I will look you up when I get married!

Why is johannson johannson a complete moron, nutter, abusive. He should be never allowed back on answers for the abuse he's just given. It's obvious he's a loony.
Good luck to you honey. Beat thing to do is look on the internet and advertise. Word will soon spread if you're good enough. Again good luck.
