What year is your 626? Your owners manual should specify what grade of gas to use in your car. Most Mazdas use unleaded regular. Use of a premium grade is not called for.

Often the cause of a check engine light on a late model car is either from a loose gas cap, or taking the gas cap off while the car is running (to keep heater or A/C on while filling car).
If this is the case, codes can be cleared by pulling off battery cable and turning on the headlights for a few seconds before turning off lights and reattaching the battery cable.

If check light comes back on, you should have the code checked at dealer, at least if car is still under warranty.

It wont make a difference if you use regular unleaded or premium unleaded. If your engine runs fine and the check engine light is on, dont panic. Make sure the fuel cap is closed tightly, this may be one problem. Otherwise take it to your local mazda dealership and have it checked. It is probably just a sensor that needs to be replaced.

Gasoline is gas or petrol for you Euro and Asian people. It comes in different octanes 85,86,87,89,91,92, 93,94, etc. Economy is 86. Regular gas is 87. Midgrade is 89. Premium is 91-93.

Diesel and kerosene are commonly sold at gas stations but are very different and will mess up your car.
