A cat. Cats are very loving and way lower maintenance than a dog. You only have to provide a litter box and keep it clean. A dog has to be walked daily and picked up after. Dogs bark and annoy the family and the neighbors when they do it at inappropriate times--such as when you are trying to sleep. Dogs have shorter life spans than cats also. If you want your pet to be around longer, the obvious choice is the cat.
I also advise keeping the pet inside. Some people would argue pets need to go out for the exercise or fresh air, etc. This just exposes them to predators, fleas, worms, run over by cars, caught in traps, etc. Besides, there are leash laws in some communities.

well, theyre both really loving anumals but if i had to choose one i would go for a dog rather than a cat. A dog is more loving and warm. and they are real good companions.on the other hand, cats juat come to you if you provide it food. just try not giving it food and it will go away whereas a dog will always be by your side if you just give it love. there's a reason why people say a dog is a man's best friend.

I would choose a dog.
I'm actually more of a cat person, but all my life i've really wanted a pet that would be loyal to me-more of a friend than a pet. And as hard as it is for me to acknowledge this, cats aren't too good at that. They're better if you just want a cuddle every now and then. But with a dog, you can do a lot more with it-walks, games, etc. It can also protect you, and it shows it's love and loyalty for you.

It all depends on what personality they show when they are in that adoption place and what the employees say about that animal.
............CAT.... less maintenance.
Example: 3 of my previous cats didnt need a litter box. They either waited to go outside, told us when they wanted outside or stayed outside most of the day........no accidents.

thats a hard decision.
ii mean,
there are different reasons for choosing a certain pet.
cats are better, since they dont need much attention, yet dogs show more affection for their owners.
but ii would say cat.
since, ii travel a lot.
and cats would just need food and waqter, and wouldnt need much attention.

I have both and they're laying at my feet as we speak.
If It were just me in the house, I'd say Dog because they make excellent companions.
If It were for my family and me, I'd say the cat they're less high maintenance and quieter.
