...with Owen Wilson's hospitalization rather than Alberto Gonzales' resignation?

Isn't it odd that "celebrity depression" seems to be the cultural fixation right now, when there seems to be instability/corruption in the highest levels of our government?

The Media is all about Smoke and Mirrors. They are under the control of the political system (whether intentional or not is irrelevant) and rtight now, the SYSTEM does NOT want the public to be conscious and aware and more importantly INVOLVED. Therefore there are pressures and influences that are brought in to "distract" the public from the REAL problems of the world. To provide an excapism to the people so that they don't HAVE to focus on what it important to each and every single person. This fixation on celebrities is causing the public to lose it's focus and you can count on celebrity worship to become MORE in the limelight as the REAL problems get worse and worse.

One of the reasons that the Media allows itself to be used in this way is that people seek to escape from the real problems of their OWN lives and by being able to view and "get involved" in the lives of celebrities, it gives them something to focus on that holds no threats to their daily lives.

It is known as burying the news (of scandal) in The UK and has been practiced by the former Blair Govrnment media fixers for the past decade.

Republicans have cottoned on to the idea that they can use their media friends to highlight some other public interest story in order to seemingly bury or dampen the effect of a political scandal.

Sometimes, government here also waits for a major catastrophe (terrorist attack, tsuname) in order to make an unfavourable(for the Govmt.) anouncement.

With 5-10 pages of front page news concentrating on the catastrophe few people get to read about that which would otherwise cause great debate.

Or why not note the death from cancer of Arron Russo.
His latest work is the movie FROM FREEDOM TO FASCISM...
why no mention of the I.N.N. challenge of the History channels bad(as in lame) attempt to debunk the 911 truth movement.
Why no real important news... it is because the bankers controling everything do not want anyone to be able to think and reason and problem solve.
