American families enjoy a lot of happiness. They have well knit families with all the benefits of a happy families. But they don`t marry just because they are of marriageable age. They marry only after they earn enough to keep families well. Indians marry because they crossed 18 , and look for support from parents, parents in law , brothers , sisters , and friends. Such dependent lives need unnecessary sentiments. The picture in urban middle class in India is fast changing. For them family means huband wife and children.

It is a sweeping statement to say that in America people enjoy life without the bondage of families.Americans also respect the institution of "Family". There are couples who have been together for long years!
Family is the building block of every society. If more families live in peace, the society is peaceful. On the other hand many divorces take place and families are broken , then that society is unsafe..
Life is a wonderful gift of God to enable man to live and love.
Enjoyment could not be the be all and end all of an individual or society. The end of moral life is enduring peace and prosperity. The end of immoral enjoyment is eternal pricking of conscience and lack of peace.
The adage stands valid even today: "Avoid the extremes and stick to the golden mean!"

In a family, there is always someone to take care of you when you are ill, in need of money, etc. Without a family, only cats and dogs can take care of you.
In a family, you are forced to be stuck with relations and get on with life. Without the constraints, you tend to divorce at the drop of a hat, have sex with someone as soon as you are attracted, thus spoiling long term peace.
In a family, you cannot be on your own. You have to keep in mind so many other people before deciding about career, etc. Without a family, you will be free to do whatever you want.
In a family, you can take your wife for lovemaking as many times as you want. Without it, if you cross the limits, you are gone.
In a family, you are forced to stick with a partner for life, forcing you into boredom at later stages. Without it, you can 'taste' many partners.
In a family, you & your children can be secure by knowing each other for long. Without it, you feel everyday you have a new partner in bed, which is exciting but can feel unsettling in the long run.

Instead of thinking of the rest of Indian families, you better leave this country and settle as per your type of family enjoyment in US. Who the hell are you to comment and compare the Indian Family System? Get out of India and then use such comments.

In America families are very important. In India we have a tendency to overdo things. But wherever you go families do matter.

As I have great respect for the Indian way of life, let me add in plain speak I have exactly the same respect for the western way of life too. Just remember one thing please, the west is not as hard as they seem nor the Indians as soft as they seem. Both cultures have much to offer even while they purport to appear different. Family support may not be as in your face as it appears in India but believe me it exists in the same fierce way in the West too. Indians tend to gush westerners not that much, but the affection is equal in both cases.
