Why does whaling still exsist when it should've stoped a century ago? I know that the Japanese whalers do it in the name of so called "research", as well as Iceland & Gortons fishing co. But this barbaric act is so prehistoric. I heard that the fools who do whaling says they "have trouble selling the meat". If they have trouble selling it, why bother killing whales & dolphins? It just doesn't make sence!? :(

There was a get out clause in the treaty for research. The Japanese exploit this and are subsidized by the Government. The sell the meat at a loss to schools. Also the Norwegians kill whales.

I think it's nations trying to act big on the world stage. A boycott of their goods would work, if only everyone would.

I don't agree with whaling but the question is, why only whales. We hunt or farm nearly every other animal for food or sport. We look at lambs frolicking in the fields and love to look at them, but then go home for a roast lamb dinner with mint sauce.
Why just one species! The fish stocks are dwindling but what do we all do. We point our finger in the air and complain, but it does no good. Man even kills his own species. Something you don't see from other animals.
I appreciate you have to start somewhere but why is it someone elses culture and not our own.

Don't forget the Eskimo/Indians of the Arctic, they insist tradition considers them exempt from our laws. They're allowed to hunt whales for "food"
