I can't answer this with absolute certainty because my atlas doesn't give that much detail, but I can give an approximate value. Alaska's Seward Peninsula and Russia's Chutosk Peninsula are only about 50 miles (80 km) apart, separated by the Bering Strait. But, we're even closer to Russia than that. Little Diomede Island (Alaska) and Big Diomede Island (Russia) are both located in the middle of the Bering Strait, and they're only about 2 miles (3.2 km) apart.

At closest point, about 5 miles from the easternmost Russian island in the Bering Sea to the westernmost Alaskan island in that sea.
