I am looking for something that will actually scare me, not like slasher films.
Event horrizon was close, but I am looking for something to make me keep thinking about how scary it was well after having watched it.

I loved The Messenger's. It was scary but it also had alot of drama, it kept you guessing right up to the end about what was actually going on.

THE VANISHING - NOT the Jeff Bridges version, but the original Dutch version. The ending will stay with you for days - trust me.

THE LIVING AND THE DEAD - I don't know when this will be available, but watch for it on DVD. One of the best "real life" horror movies I've ever seen.

HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER - Don't listen to any of the reviews that painted this as a simple "slasher" film. It's something a whole lot scarier...this one will make you double check that your doors are locked before you go to sleep at night. And think twice before stopping to help somebody pulled off to the shoulder of a highway at night...

MAY - I can't tell you much about it, because the less you know going in, the scarier it is...especially that ENDING...

MASTERS OF HORROR: JENIFER - One of the best things that Dario Argento has done in years...Disturbing, to say the least...

DEAD AND BURIED - One more I forgot to add from the Eighties. A little dated in some ways, but still packs a wallop at the end. With Jack Albertson (WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY), James Farentino, Melody Anderson (FLASH GORDON) and in a cameo, Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund.

Rest Stop
Hostel
Dead Silence
The Ring
The Prestige

Agree with an above poster: "Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer" is one that will haunt you years after you watch it, but due to that, I cannot recommend anyone watching it. Not scary, but eternally disturbing.

Grudge and Grudge 2 really freaked me out. I saw Grudge 1 and I walked out thirty minutes later. Grudge 2; Mom had to sit between me and Dad so he wouldn't try to scare me. I was scared enough without him. LOL.

The Exorcist is great! It's a bit out dated, but man, I watched it a few years ago and thinking about it still gives me the creeps!
