Like Adrianna, it is one of the sea nymph's names. Where Diana is the huntress and protector of all animals. Marina is one of king Neptune's daughters.

Okay it's definitely a 'werid' name, because I live on the west coast and there are all sorts of 'marinas' here ... with BOATS in them. But as a name for a female, I thinks it's a really good name ... but if YOU don't like it, then find yourself the name that 'feels right' and go to court and get your name changed. I did that ... and I actually feel 'more a Kris' than I ever did 'feel' I was the name my mother gave me at birth.

One of my daughter's best friends is named Marina. I think it is a really beautiful name. She has long black hair and green eyes and looks a little "mermaidy" so it really suits her.

Nothing personal, but I think of a place where boats dock...with a dead fish smell. But, given my last name sounds like sneezing, I can empathize with feeling stuck with a name. Don't let it get you down.
