The Ibanez 100 is a good beginners bass.
75% of the sound that comes from a bass is the typ of bass amp you get. You are going to have to try many different ones before you hear that sound that you want.
Added to that is the different bass pick ups on your bass. The body, styl, looks, color,
do not contribute to the sound. So don't be caught off gard by what a bass looks like, It's the electronics that make the sound.
Sincerely yours
Fred M. Hunter

I think it is a great bass. I have heard it and it has a decent tone to it. Ibanez make a good product and most times you can't go wrong with it. It's a perfect choice and economical choice for someone just starting out.
Good luck! and hope you stick with it the world needs more women interested in playing an instrument like a bass :)

Yeah dude, I've had my bass for about a year and half. It has real good sound. Has great sustain and adaptability. String action is not too high so you can play for a pretty long time without killing your fingers. Its a cool bass and will keep you challenged on it for a long time. Hope you enjoy your new bass.

My dad's said that that specific one was said to fall apart fairly quickly in many reviews he'd seen. I recently bought a beginner bass, its a Rogue and I love it.
Here's the exact one I got. I don't know if it comes in a lefty however. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Rogue-LX400-Pro-4String-Electric-Bass?sku=519276

I don't have one, but after reading the description it sounds like this is right up your alley. Its a "beginner' bass" and its moderately priced. Looks like a good investment. Also, your sound will also depend on your amp and settings.

Bass guitar is cool. Listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers- their bass lines rock and Flea is awesome.
