Click START
Click RUN
in RUN type msconfig
go to the STARTUP TAB
Uncheck services not needed at startup, but be sure to leave your antivirus and firewall checked.
Other than them two things, you can uncheck everything else.
After you apply settings, computer will want to reboot.
When it reboots it will tell you that you are running in trouble shooting mode, check the box "DO SHOW ME THIS AGAIN" and then okay.
Now it should boot up and run faster.

What about your ram, try to upgrade it, but if you dont have nothing to spend. Try checking your computer for viruses and malwares, it causes your unit to slowdown - be sure you have a good antivirus/antispyware program, which could really detect and remove those malicious file. Try also removing files which is not necessary and its just OK to be deleted. Try also removing all temporary files (tmp files). This temporary files just adds to your files but is useless.

Most pcs are slowest when starting up. Go to start=>run and type msconfig
From here you can prevent things from starting up automatically.
Also whenever you install any software, be very careful what you tick. You don't want it running automatically for no reason and slowing your system down

defragment, disc clean up, remove programs no longer used. Don't have lots of things auto starting when you turn it on. Remove processes you don't need.
