The hint that my professor gave was that a rock band named it self after it.

That doesn't make any sense. There were no rock bands in the 1900s!

Research the Bauhaus. Very famous school with a colorful history as politics, personalities, art, and business all mingled in a creative stew. The ideas from the Bauhaus continue to impact education in design and art. Not necessarily all of the ideas originated there but it was a synthesis of leading thought that came together and was formalized at the Bauhaus.
