I thought you were right unless you are not looking for the (
5+3 = 8
2-9 = -7

8*-7=-56

-56^2
=

3136

not 8(-7)^2

(-7)^2 = 49

8*49=

-392

3136 is the correct answer if you misread parent

Ok first 2-9 = -7
(-7 )^2= 49
49 * 3= 147
147 + 5= 152
order of operations so first, bracket and squares,
then multiplication/division
then addition/subtraction

First, simplify in the parenthesis.
5+3(-7)^
Then, square the parenthesis.
5+3(49)
Then multiple 3 by 49.
5+147
Then perform the addition
152 is your answer.

i'm assuming that you need to solve 2-9
2-9=-7
square that
-7*-7= 49

then you have
5+3(49)

1st you do
3*49=147

then you finsih with
5+147= 152.

hope that works.
