just look to the word above to see a justified reason "rivalry."
Come on, everyone knows that the two teams obviously respect eachothers ability on the field. like any great rivalry, the two teams involved have to both be really good otherwise it's not much of a rivalry( the bo sox and devil rays have had so many bean-ball wars and bench clearings these last seasons but no one would consider this a rivalry since the devil rays always finish last in the al east).
I'm a boston fan, and like most all red sox faithful, I know that the yankees, while doushe bags, are a great team. So when a red sox fan says the yankees suck, they are probably saying something more along the lines of the yankees "suck AT LIFE".
Although I do know I'd sure as hell be embarassed to have spent more money than everyother team and not get the wild card :)

Red Sox aren't even a better team this year so how could they be a better team overall. The Red sox pitching sucks. Beckett is overrated. Matsuzaka is a .500 pitcher. Schilling's career is over he should retire. Wakefield has only beat sub par teams like the d-rays and white sox. I don't know who there fifth starter is and I don't care.
Their hitting doesn't compare to the yankees.
Neither does the bullpen.
26 time champs and 39 time american league champs.
No team in the history of sports has ever done that.
Even the cardinals have had more success then the red sox.

I'm not a cocky Red Sox Fan if this is what your implying.I'm obviously not a Yankee Fan and I don't like them all that well, but I do respect how they play the game. There are some phenomenal players, past and present, in the organization. If I do bash the Yankees, it's only because I want my team to have a chance at the playoffs, just like the Yankees do every year.

Back at you...can any Yankee fan give a justified reason why the number one team in the A.L. East sucks? Because I hear a lot of Yankee fans say "Red Sox Suck." Also...while you're at it...explain why so many Yankee fans are cocky, arrogant jerks that ask questions like this and throw in the "26 rings" defense...who cares about the 26 rings...the current year is the only year that matters.
When most people say "Yankees suck" they are really talking about their fans because of fans like you! I respect the Yankees as a team because they are a good team and most of the time play good baseball (if you don't include some of the bush league A-Rod moves)...I can't stand most of the Yankee fans because of some of the things they say...I can take baseball banter between two groups of fans but in my experience with Yankee fans the banter usually equals idiocracy.

No, it's just childish name-calling. On the other hand, there are just as many childish Yankee fans writing about how the Red Sox suck, so you're definitely throwing stones from a glass house. With all the trash talk and profanity, both teams' fans look pretty low-class on Yahoo! Answers, and they reflect poorly on your teams and your cities.

The word "Suck" can be used in a different context when it comes to sports. Yes, the rivalry holds a large influence to premature conclusions on both ends. Most Red Sox fans hate the Yankees because of their stranglehold on mindless fans who choose to follow a team just because they are "winning". Statistics are the only thing the bandwagon fans care about. like insects to Bright lights.

Lol, how can a "26 time WS Champs" give up 4 games to a "6 time WS Champs?" Just doesn't make sense huh. What are the Yankees doing taking a Red Sox player to their team? Is it that the Yankees know that the Red Sox players are the only way they can do good?(Johnny Damon)

its called jealousy. its been that way since the beginning. the sox first game ever was against the yanks and guess what? they lost! its simple jealousy. ever notice how people always say that the most successful team or person or whatever "sucks"? sox fans just say it because they're sox fans. they always push the "well they bought their lineup" crap. um yeah.......guess what kids.....EVERY TEAM IN EVERY SPORT DOES THAT!!! even the sox!!! so kill the stupidity already. yeah the sox won one. ONE. dont act like you own the universe. when you catch up to us (the yankees) then you can START talking. dont hang on to that one like you did something noteworthy. hell, even the royals have gotten to the series before but you dont hear them bragging. a team that has won 26 world series and i dunno how many division titles does not suck. BTW: redsoxfan775, damon isnt doing that great so dont brag about that either. hes not carrying the team. he WANTED to come here. he made it well known that HE wanted to be a yankee. he courted us, not the other way around. its kinda like you guys stealing gagne from another team. or schilling. or beckett. sound familiar??
go yankees!!!!

The Yankees only suck to the classless Redsox fans. So far, I haven't heard one Redsox sucks chant in the two games played. When the series moves to Boston, we'll see if the Sox fans can control themselves, or are they going to act like the boorish barbarians we know them to be.
