Please can someone tell me what the t = ??

You have to remember that with equations you can do anything to one side as long as you do the same with the other side.

Also, you have to get all the numbers on one side and, in this case, get all the t's on the other side.

To get the numbers on one side you take 5 from both sides.
9t + 5 - 5 = 7 - 2t - 5
9t = 2 - 2t

Now, to get the t's to one side you must add 2t to both sides
9t + 2t = 2 - 2t + 2t
11t = 2

therefore t = 2/11 ie t = 0.181818

Ok, step one: Subtract five from both sides.
9t=2-2t
Step two: Add 2t to both sides.
11t=2
Step three: Divide by 11 (on both sides) to isolate the t.
t=.181818181818181819

t is just a variable but the answer is t=2/11...subtract the 5 to each side...add the 2t to each side...which leaves 11t=2 then divide the 11 to each side...which gives you t = 2/11
