I have 6 NexLink computers, and none will power up with their current power supply. (I will assume all the power supplies are bad because none will even spin their own fan.) I have tried another power supply with the same wattage on these machines and they power on however I do not get video out of any of them. The power supply that gets the machine to power on does not have a microprocessor power connector that the previous power supply has. Is it possible that this could be the reason I cannot get them to boot? Or possibly any other ideas? Thanks!

Most processors rated at >65 Watts TDP would not power up without the 4 pin 12V ATX connector plugged in. Some processors that have 65W or less TDP are able to power up.

If an SMPS gets power it distributes the power as requird by the machine..The proc comes in to picture only when the system boots to Dos or windows apart from that the board should display the BIOS version when powered up...however somtimes the bios itself is read by the proc..in other words the orcessor should be connected and the heat sync(fan)should be spinning...in this case looks like the power is the main culprit...you isolate this problem

try the power on a good known machine and check for the documentation of your computers abput the corrct power supply.

Try the processor on a good working machine..if they work fine we all know the answer

Microprocessor is the heart of computer. You will not get any display if mother board is not power up.
