About how much (generally) would a typical upright piano in good condition sell for?
I bought it in 2002 and it probably wasn't made more than 10 years before that...

Not to argue with anybody, but that piano is NOT a spinet, but a console. Kohler and Campbell is a decent brand, made nowadays (and certainly yours is) by Samick of Korea. If as you say it is about 12 years old, (get the serial number and I will tell you when it was built) I would not take less than $1000 for it -- it could be worth as much as $1500, if it has been tuned regularly.

I would offer it at $1500 and see what kind of offers you come up with.

First of all, it's a "spinet," not an "upright."

Pianos are a very, very hard sell nowadays. Yours looks to be in excellent condition, so if the sound is very good, I would advertise it as "$600 or best offer." But be prepared to be offered about $300 [I'd even take $250, but wouldn't go lower].

Alternatively, if you don't get any serious takers, you could donate it to a school or church and claim a higher amount as a tax deduction -- you could even argue that it's worth $1,000 to you.

They are probably well known to classical music enthusiasts but it took me a while to discover them and I think them the absolute equal to any of those by Chopin which they were somewhat modeled on. Namely the early set of 24 'Preludes' from opus 11 by Alexander Scriabin. Nos.14 and 16 are two definite favourites.

Call a piano tuner/technician in your area. They'll be able to appraise the value of the piano for you.
