I recently upgraded my video card and, like an idiot, I didn't check my display settings before doing so. Now everything looks . . . strange, and it seems no matter what I set the resolution to or how change my monitor's settings, the picture looks too stretched, to convex, or the icons, menus, and text look wrong. Is there any way I can check my monitor's old settings?

You cannot check the old settings for your monitor without reinstalling your old video card. One of the things to check is that your new video card supports your current monitor. As someone else said, make sure you have the most recent drivers installed. Then go to "Advanced" under the display properties and check to make your monitor is the one listed under the "Monitor" tab. If it is, then go to the "Adapter" tab, click the "List All Modes" button, and select a mode that your monitor can support. Only those that your monitor can support will be listed. That should make your display become clearer.

Look for the auto config button. Just press it to bring the monitor to the right settings.

There should be controls on your monitor (buttons you can touch) which lets you adjust this.

Apart from that, if your monitor is wide screen, make sure you select an appropriate resolution and vice versa if its not wide screen.
