I always end up with 5 which of course does not make sense. Are there flaws with my algebra?

Assuming:-
(f - 2) / 3 = (f + 1) / 2
2(f - 2) = 3(f + 1)
2f - 4 = 3f + 3
- f = 7
f = - 7

F-2/3=f+1/2
F-2/3-1/2=f
F-4/6-3/6=f
F-7/6=f
