*I'm scratching my head right now*..life didn't work out for you annnnnnddddd how old are you? If I'm talking to a person gracing the age of 100, then I'm sorry to say, you must have lived in a vacuum to regret life. If I'm talking to someone under this age...hey, I'll be generous and say age of 40 (by your question alone)....then I'd say, no...you're not a failure. What you are is wiser a year above the time you realized life was not the way you thought it would be.

**Discalimer - Honestly, I figure my response will worm it's way into a self-help book. *Thats just for future reference.

You only fail if you fail to try. The fact that your life didn't take the path you'd planned just gives you different opportunities to succeed in other areas.

There is no such thing as failure , it only is a symptom , because out of the perceived failure you have gained tremendous knowledge of new experience , take it as a home made learning proses and what seem as a lousy out come try again with the acquired experience

Judging yourself is the source of the problem.

You may finally realize the problem of wanting. Doing what we want brings immediate gratification. It also brings many things that we don't want. When we let go of immediate gratification, life turns out much better.

Those who are considered "successful" generally have learned how to deal with delayed gratification.

failing is the root of success, if your learning from your experiences then your heart is in the right place.
some of the greatest leaders in the past learnt the mastery of wisdom through hardship, its only your mind telling you that you've failed, allow your intuition to guide you to your destiny.

blame it on someone else.
but define failure to succeed? by whose standards are you basing your failure upon?
if you're only basing your failings on someone else pre-determend standards then damn sure you're not only a failure, but you're pathetic!
