I have tried two types of pill and one type of patch. I have experienced uncontrollable bleeding that lasted more than a month at one point. My hair is also falling out like crazy! I have had two condoms break on me so I don't feel comfortable only using those. I have an 8 month old baby ... (I am married and in my 20's in case you were wondering) HELP!

Your hair is probably falling out from having the baby, not the BC-- my baby is 4 months and mine just started doing tha tlike crazy.

Have you considered an IUD? You'll spot for a month or two, but after that, its carefree- and a higher rate of effectiveness than the patch, pill, condom, etc. There is NO user error, becuase the doc inserts it, and then you dont have to think of it again for 5 years-- at which time you can have it removed and a new one put in, or you can decide to go without. It can also be removed and you can turn around and get pregnant in the next 30 days (unlike some hormonal birth control).

Also-- added bonus-- a good portion of women stop having periods all together, after the first month and almost all women stop having them after their second IUD is insserted (5 years later).

You may try the following :-

1) Withdrawal method. Take note that this is not a very save method cos there could be some sperm present in the precum.

2) Avoid making love during Fertility Period. Ovulation usually occurs mid cycle. More precisely, ovulation usually occurs 14 days before the onset of bleeding.

Good Luck!

Go and get an IUD. They are known for stopping very heavy bleeding even to the point of not getting a period anymore. Side affects are so minimal compared to other contraceptives especially the pill and the depo provera shot.
You can have them in for as little or as long as you like (up to 5yrs) and they work from the moment they are inserted unlike other contraceptives. As soon as you have it taken out you can fall pregnant unlike the pill again (where it can take months for the pill hormones to wear off) so its great for inbetween kids.
Definately speak to your doctor about it. I got one in march and it is the best decision I ever made. The pill, shot and rod in arm were all crap for me and this is heaven!!!

I think your best bet other than getting your tubes tied would be to get on the depo provera shot. It last 3 months at a time and most people don't have their periods while on it (I didn't atleast and I was on it for 2 years)

You could always get an IUD its done in the office of your OBGYN and can last for I think 5 yrs. If condoms are breaking on you that often check the expiration date or make sure he knows what he's doing.

OnThisPage is completely and totally wrong!
You are fertile for a week during ovulation, and sometimes the act of making love can make you ovulate.

So, basically, you can be fertile at any given point in your cycle.

Try:
Diaphrams
The sponge
Have him do something. There are "spermacides", have him find some.

A woman is only fertile 24 hours out of the month so learn when you are ovulating. research the signs online or talk to a health professional about this. This may work for you as it does for me and other woman. However as you know the only way is not to have sex.

If you really don't want to have kids again, just get your tubes tied. No worries.
