I have lost respect for the SEC due to its extremly weak non-conference scheduling. They are the worst in scheduling cupcakes of the 6 BCS conferences. They secedule many games with the SUN BELT Conference ( weakest confernece of them all) - Scheduled 12 this year!

Here is their non-conference schedule:

FLORIDA (3/3 cupcakes)
Troy (Sun Belt)
FLA Atlantic (Sun Belt)
Western Kentucky

MISSISSIPPI STATE (3/3 cupcakes)
Gardner-Webb (not even division1 !)
Tulane
UAB

KENTUCKY (3/3 cupcakes)
Eastern Kentucky
Kent State
FLA Atlantic (Sun Belt)

GEORGIA (2/3 cupcakes)
OK State
Troy (Sun Belt)
FLA Atalantic (Sun Belt)

ALABAMA (3/3 cupcakes)
Louisiana-Monroe (Sun Belt)
Houston
West Carolina

ARKANSAS (4/4 cupcakes)
Troy (Sun Belt)
Chattanooga
North Texas
Fla. Atlantic (Sun Belt)

LSU (3/4 cupcakes)
Middle Tennessee
Tulane
Va Tech (good team)
Louisiana Tech

Mississippi (3/4 cupcakes)
Memphis
Missouri
Louisiana Tech
Northwestern State

VANDERBILT (3/4 cupcakes)
Richmond
E. Michigan
Miami of Ohio
Wake Forest

TENNESSEE (3/4 cupcakes)
Lousiana-Lafayette (Sun Belt)
So. Miss
Ark. State (Sun Belt)
CAL (a good team)

SOUTH CARLOLINA (1/3 cupcakes)
Louisana-Lafayette (Sun Belt)
SC State
Clemson

Their conference tries to justify this by saying that their conference is so difficult that they need this. But it is misleading to have all of your teams go into conference play 3-0 or 4-0. Expcept for Tenn, we don't know how any of these teams fair with the rest of the nation until Bowl season!

This is not just throwing trash out - Your PROOF is above!

for example take Arkansas - 4 cupcake teams , (2 with the Sum Belt!) that 4-0 and if you factor beating the cupcakes of the SEC (Miss & Miss St.) thats 6-0 and already qualified for a bowl game -- thats bush league!

First of all I am NOT an SEC fan. I would have to say they are by far the most difficult conference, the number 4 and 11 teams in the nation are in the conference but not in the championship game that shows you how strong of a conference they are they don't have an extremly high ranked team because they all beat each other up. While the Big Ten is the most overrated, OSU has played no one and do not deserve to be #3 in the nation, Pac 10 could have fought with them but after Dixons injury that debate stopped. SEC=#1

Well, this is certainly a USC fan posting such an uneducated question.

So if the Cardinals were able to win all the games in their division, but the Patriots lost 3 games in their division...would that mean that the Cardinals must be better?? I think not.

By your logic, if nobody from the SEC can win all their games, then the whole conference is worthless?? So any conference with an undefeated team would automatically be better than the SEC? Is this the PAC 10 logic?

I think they need to cut the weed off at the border, you Cali boys are smoking too much of it and it is affecting your thought pattern.

Hathor,
As an LSU fan and season ticket holder (50-yard line baby, lower deck!) I can only speak for my team. Many of the non-conference teams that LSU schedules are against in-state schools. Tulane, although not good anymore is a traditional rival, and playing the other schools allows revenue to stay in state and giving to schools that are very underfunded because LSU recieves the majority of the money (I believe more than all others combined). But on the other hand, look at our SEC schedule. We are playing 3 preseason ranked teams, a spurrier-lead USC, a new Saban-related blood fued with already hated Alabama, a believe-it-or not rivalary game with Ole Miss who always plays us tough and to the wire, and a Kentucky team who went to a bowl last year.

By the way, Kentucky also plays Louisville.

Truthfully, the SEC is consistently the best football conference top to bottom. The problem is so many SEC fans buy into the invincibility that they blind themselves to it when the SEC has a down year. I know how it is, Im a yankees fan and have to put up being bunched in with all the bias yanks fans who turn a blind eye to it when the Yanks are poor. Truth is this is a down year for the SEC related to the years of the past decade.
In the past I would buy into the argument that losing 1 game in the SEC is the same as going undefeated in another conference (hell you wouldnt ask an NFL team to go undefeaeted because its damn near impossible to play that well consistently).
Take LSU for example: they play 3 conference games of teams currently in the top 25; all told thats not that spectacular. Of the other conferece games I think only Alabama has a shot at sneaking into the top 25, but really thats not that spectacular of a conference schedule. Every SEC team gets 2, but in most cases 3 conference games against sub par teams (the Kentucky or Mississippi schools pending your division). Now if an upset is pulled SEC fans point to the difficulty of playing in the SEC, could you pull that if VA Tech lost to Duke?
Now take a team like Texas, they play just as many games in cofnerence against current top 25 teams. What I'm saying is this, the SEC is not of a lower echelon, the HS talent produced in the south (primarily Florida) is enough to keep it consistently a top tiered conference. That being said is this a down year for the SEC? Yes. Is is the best Conf in the land? I Dunno.

Is this a joke?Ask Ohio State how weak Florida was Ask Notre Dame how weak LSU was. This is crazy I know of 3 maybe 4 teams out of the SEC that would have beat Ohio State just as bad as Florida did.If you make it out of the SEC undefeated you deserve to be in a championship.

No team in America, including USC, can say that they would defenitley go undefeated in the SEC. You are kidding yourself if you think that you could play LSU, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, South Carolina week after week and be undefeated. Come on get real!

So because one team doesn't dominate the conference and the competition is so tough that it's damn near impossible to run the table, then somehow it's mediocre?

Wow, I guess that makes the WAC just that much better than the SEC, because Boise kicked the crap out of all of those teams last year. Whoda thunk that Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State are just miles better than Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, and South Carolina?

Good Lord, get a clue.

the SEC is the best football conference right now, and im an FSU fan. if nobody gets out undefeated, its because every single conference game is going to be hard fought, and all the teams are so good its just going to be a matter of who wants it more on a particular night, and its going to be hard to go in every game for these SEC teams and do that, even if they are a very, very good team.
